Smooth Out Your Fine Lines and Wrinkles

Smooth Out Your Fine Lines and Wrinkles

Botox is a fast and easy way to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and take years off your face.

Let’s face it— getting older can come with some perks but wrinkles certainly aren’t one of them. While some people may hear the wordsbotox cosmetic dermatology and immediately picture drastic and invasive procedures, our Bethesda dermatologist Dr. Samantha Toerge is here to tell you that you can improve the look of your skin without invasive procedures or surgeries.

What is Botox?

When you read about Botox you may, at first, be slightly taken aback by the fact that botulinum toxin is being injected into the surface of the skin, but in this purified form it can safely be administered into specific muscles of the face to prevent them from contracting, which will smooth away certain lines and wrinkles.

What wrinkles can Botox handle?

If you are looking to temporarily say goodbye to frown lines, lines around the eyes (also known as “crow’s feet”), as well as forehead and neck wrinkles, Botox may be right for you. Our Bethesda skin doctor may recommend Botox if the wrinkles you are looking to reduce are ones that appear when contracting muscles in your face.

How long does Botox last?

After we administer a series of thin needles the results won’t be instant but you will notice a visible change within a few days (with the full results showing up in about a week). While results won’t last forever (results last anywhere from three to six months) you can get repeat Botox treatments every six months or so to maintain your results for even longer. Plus, the wrinkles won’t reappear as severe the next time after your first treatment.

If you want to find out if Botox treatment is right for you, call Chevy Chase Dermatology Center serving Bethesda, MD to schedule your cosmetic consultation. You won’t be sorry!
